"Da hat sich wohl ein Fels losgerissen und schwebt jetzt über dem See."
"A rock broke loose and hovers now above the lake."
Ludwig Heinritz
Feilitzsch, Germany (July 2010)
Attracted by an enigmatic appearance above an abandoned quarry next to their village, the locals came hiking up to the quarry to find out what was happening. Then they started to talk: about Russian prisoners of war during WWII, who had to do forced labour in this very quarry, about the company that used to run it afterwards and the explosions that made the windows in the village rattle, about the German railway and how the rock from this quarry was used to build rail tracks, about economic changes when the company suddenly was bankrupt and the quarry had to close down, followed by unemployment and personal hardships - but also about campfires, an illegal rave and the beauty of a sunrise, individual love stories and how the quary was reclaimed by nature.
